Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj has reacted to the latest statements of Serbian politicians in Belgrade regarding the legally-binding agreement foreseen in Chapter 35 of Serbia's EU negotiations. This agreement entails certain issues that have not been solved by Kosovo and Serbia.
“Serbian politicians are acting irresponsibly and are misleading their domestic opinion on the legally-binding agreement with Kosovo," said Hoxhaj, writing on Twitter. "The EU will not accept new members who have outstanding issues, such as mutual recognition, border demarcation, and unresolved conflict legacies."
With this post on Twitter, Hoxhaj has responded to the latest statement by Serbian Minister for European Integration, Jadranka Joksimovic, who said that Serbia would not be required to recognize Kosovo's independence in order to become an EU member.
These statements are being recently used by Serbian politicians in order to justify the agreement that is expected to be reached between Kosovo and Serbia on full normalization of mutual relations and mutual recognition.
